December 8 in Pop History

On this day, December 8th in: 

• 1980 - John Lennon was shot and killed outside his apartment building in New York City. He was 40. As one of The Beatles and as a solo artist, he of course wrote and recorded some of the biggest songs of all time. Outside of his apartment near Central Park, Mark David Chapman shot John Lennon to death. Earlier in the day, Lennon had autographed an album for Chapman.
